**PARENT BEHAVIOR**

Just as the players represent this club, so do the parents. It is imperative that our parents refrain from excessive negative language directed at your daughters' teammates, the opposing team, or the officials. There is often a fine line between being passionate and looking like a fool and not representing yourself and the team in an appropriate way. Thank you for your understanding.

What is the difference between middle school & high school uniforms, & where can I purchase them?
High school and Middle school travel uniforms consist of the Bluegrass Nike reversible pinnie and the Bluegrass Nike shorts.
These items may be purchased on the Bluegrass website under "Apparel".

My daughter doesn’t want to play in college. Is Bluegrass Premier still right for them?

Yes! We help players of all age and skill levels, and we are determined to assist your daughter is whatever her goals may be - whether that’s playing at a D1 school or making her high school varsity team.

My daughter has never played lacrosse before, can she still play for Bluegrass?

Absolutely! Our ‘Practice Only’ team would be a great start for your daughter as she will be given the personal attention she needs in order to feel comfortable and confident in her skills. We also offer private lessons that are especially helpful to new players because they are able to receive specific feedback and instruction.

Will you help get my daughter a college scholarship?

As coaches, we are always interested in helping any child achieve their athletic dreams and we will do everything we can to assist in that venture, however, it is ultimately up to the perseverance of the child and her family. As a member of the National team, your child will get a membership to the IWLCA recruiting software. If your child is not on the National Team but still wishes to play in college, reach out to one of the coaches and we will set something up to talk about options and what the next steps need to be.

Am I required to attend all practices and tournaments?

On each travel team, your child is permitted to miss one tournament. With practice, your child can miss every now and then, but it is recommended that she shows up to as much as possible to ensure she’s getting the most amount of practice and training as she can. It also helps with team dynamics when everyone shows up and participates.

What happens if I change my mind about traveling and/or decide not to play? Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot refund any deposits of team fees as we commit to tournaments way ahead of time and it negatively affects the club when someone pulls out. We have to be able to pay tournament fees before season starts. There may be exceptions, but Coach Pat will have to approve any and all refunds. Once travel rosters are set and deposits have been made, players are committed to full payment - there are no refunds for any reason except for extreme cases.

What do we do about hotels?
All tournaments are 'Stay to Play', which means that we are required to obtain a block of rooms through a third-party travel agency in order to participate in the tournament. The room block information will be posted on the website above the payment button for each particular tournament. You must comply with the deadline in order to obtain a room, If you miss the deadline, you will likely have to book elsewhere.

How will I know what position my child will be playing & how much playing time will she receive?
Players will likely be needed to play positions other than those that they might prefer or be used to playing on their school teams. Often times, out of say 20 players going to a particular tournament, 3 or 4 might be "true" defenders, which obviously means others will have to fulfill those roles. It is very important to have experience playing all positions  in order to increase lax IQ and become the most versatile player you can! Therefore, it is certainly not a punishment if you are asked to play another position, it is just part of the growing process and helping the team!

Regarding playing time, all players will see at least a "moderate" level of playing time, but equal playing time certainly not guaranteed. Factors include position played (midfielders run more than anyone so need more subs), level of competition, & number of players on the team for that particular tourney.

Which color uniform should I wear & when should I be at the field for the games?
Technically, the first team listed on the schedule should be the home team & wear the lighter color, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way, so wear whichever color you wish & be ready to change. All players need to be at their field 30 minutes prior to the game UNLESS your game coach gives you different instructions.

When are game schedules released for tournaments?
It depends on the tournament. Some will release the schedule months in advance, while others wait about two weeks beforehand. We will email the schedule as soon as it becomes available. Most of the time, tournament schedules and updates are on Tourney Machine or Sinc Sports. These apps can be downloaded to your cell phone.

What time do games typically start & how many games should we plan on playing?
Most tournaments play games on Saturdays and Sundays only. Usually, there are 2-3 games on Saturday starting around 8 or 9 a.m., and then 1-2 games on Sunday starting at the same time, but there is no steadfast rule. Each tournament is different. Some are only pool play (you'll play the 4 or 5 games you are scheduled and that's it). In other tournaments, however, you keep playing on Sunday until you lose.

Who will be coaching my child?
1 or 2 specific coaches will be assigned to each team in order to provide as much consistency as possible. All of our travel coaches are very experienced & will do a great job leading the team.

How will I know what college coaches will be at each tournament?
Usually coaches are listed on the particular tournament's website and players should definitely email the coach of any school they might be interested in so they will know to come watch.

Do I need to register for the tournament or sign a waiver outside of paying through the Bluegrass website?
Most every tournament will require an online waiver or registration to complete and that info will be sent to you.

If I cannot participate for half of the summer, can I prorate?
Sorry, but we cannot do partial payments. We understand that families might have travel plans for the summer and might not be able to attend every practice. However, the practice price is a cover fee and we do not do payments per practice.
