SUMMER FAQ

Bluegrass Premier is the top girls lacrosse club in Kentucky.  Last summer, we had  more than 200 high school and middle school players from 27 different schools participating!  If you are interested in challenging yourself, competing against the best, making new friends, and sharing your love for the game, then this is the place for you!!

Whether   you are brand new to lacrosse or have played for many years, we will help to maximize your  capabilities in a fun yet challenging environment!!

 WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

“Middle School” is for players entering 5th – 8th grades, while “High School” is for 9th – 12th grade players.

WHAT IS THE TRYOUT DATE & WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

High School tryout dates:
2023/2022 grads ONLY =  TBD
2021/2020 grads ONLY = Sunday, March 10, 4-6pm
MS (2024-2027 grads) tryout date =  Sunday, April  28 from 5-6:30pm

All players need all necessary equipment and previously submitted registration  form completely, along with a $15 tryout fee if not already paid online. Checks can be made payable to Bluegrass Premier Lacrosse. Cash is fine, too.

***If you cannot attend the tryout, but you wish to play in a tournament, you must notify us!!

WHO ARE THE COACHES?

All Bluegrass Premier coaches have extensive experience in coaching girls lacrosse.  We have current high school and middle school coaches, as well as current college players on staff.  We choose coaches who will foster positive relationships with the team and encourage players who want to improve, all while learning the fundamentals of progressive competitive play.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP OR TOURNAMENT  ENTRANCE?

There are absolutely NO REFUNDS for the MEMBERSHIP FEE or TOURNAMENT FEES. We have to commit to playing tournament entry fess well ahead of time and it negatively affects everyone else when you cannot attend after committing.

DO PLAYERS TRAVEL/ROOM TOGETHER  AT TOURNAMENTS?  DOES THE CLUB COORDINATE TRAVEL FOR EVERYONE?

All travel and accommodations for tournaments are the responsibility of the player’s family and are a separate charge from club fees.  All tournaments have a required fee and that fee is listed below next to the tournament.  Depending on the tournament, they might require certain hotels for use.  We will send out information on room blocks that we secure.  During the tournaments, the coaches are responsible for the players while the team is on the field and during play.  Parents will be accountable at all other times.  Feel free to coordinate travel plans with other Bluegrass families if you cannot attend.

DO I HAVE TO TRY OUT FOR THE TEAM?

You do NOT have to try out if you wish to participate in the practice sessions and not play in a tournament.  If you would like to play in a tournament, you MUST attend the tryout so we can evaluate your skills in relation to the other players.

WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION & WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?

Registration  is $300 for 14 practices.   This includes coaching and administrative fees, field use, practice time, and recruiting assistance.   *Tournament fees, travel costs, and uniform costs are NOT included.  If selected for a tournament, all  fees are due by  Friday,  April 26.   *Your child  will  be removed from tournament roster(s) if payments are not on time.

WHAT IF I AM NOT INTERESTED IN PLAYING IN  COLLEGE? IS  BLUEGRASS PREMIER STILL FOR ME?

YES!  This program is designed for players of all levels no matter if your goals are making your high school team, improving your stock on your team, or aspiring to play in college.

WHAT EQUIPMENT/UNIFORM DO I NEED TO HAVE?

All players need to come to practice with their stick, goggles, mouthguard, and reversible Bluegrass practice pinnie.  *If you are planning on playing in a tournament, you will also need to purchase a uniform and socks.

AM I EXPECTED TO ATTEND ALL PRACTICES AND TOURNAMENTS?

We know that schedules are very busy and we are happy that kids are playing in the off-season. You do not need to attend every practice, but, of course, the more you play, the better you will get! We are NOT able to prorate costs for missed time.

WHAT ASSISTANCE WITH THE COLLEGE RECRUITMENT PROCESS  DOES THE CLUB PROVIDE TO THE INDIVIDUAL PLAYER AND FAMILY?

Coaches assist players in a variety of ways, including responding to and contacting college coaches on behalf of players, completing recruiting forms, etc. and acting as a guide through the recruiting process.  Coaches are available to answer any questions the player or parent may have regarding the recruiting process.  We often bring in college coaches for clinics and to hold Q & A sessions for players and parents.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH INCLEMENT WEATHER?

All practices will go on as schedules unless notified in advance. Our main field is turf and we will conduct practice in the rain under safe conditions. If for some reason practice is cancelled, we will make it up. We will notify parents and players prior to any cancelled practices.
